The day began as it should…
I was riding my horse Nokia along the main road on my journey across the country in my search for new followers to Tempus when the normal took a sharp turn to the left and ran alllll the way home. It wasn’t even midday when I saw before a small blue lizard. Narrowing my eyes I confirmed the beast to be a dragon! At once I unsheathed my blade and charged at the beast. It ran once it saw my approach, up a tree. I halted my steed at the base of the tree to asses the situation. Standing close to where the dragon had been were a man and woman. The woman looking more than a little bored and the man glaring ..or I should say…trying to glare right through me. I must say he isn’t very intimidating.
I asked both if either of them were hurt and they said no. In fact they began to question my meaning in brandishing my sword at the dragon. The young man actually began to reprimand me for my actions. I’m convinced he has recently sustained a head injury. He insists that the dragon is in fact a newly hatched baby and consider him it’s pet and the woman it’s mother. Like I said. Head injury.
At some point during all of this the baby dragon had come down from it’s place on the tree and began to sniff at my person. I attempted to shoo it away. Long story short the little cretin stole my sword and I whipped it around the neck and lashed the dragon around abit until it relinquished my blade. Little monster. It needs to die. I honestly never thought I’d see the day where prey would defend it’s predator. Or maybe this little mage is simple. If that’s the case should he really be allowed to play with fire?
As I finished whiplashing the little dragon my attention was called by the woman who was up the road kneeling over an injured woman. I road over and did all that I could to lessen her pain and help her heal. She evidently was in search of her lost companion. Doing what we could to help she went on her way in search of him.
Deciding we were traveling in the same direction I agreed to travel with the woman, Mouse, and her son dragon (if only to strike him down later) and the simple mage. Nearing late afternoon we stopped and set up camp. The fire was struck and the tents going up I and the mage felt something shift and go wrong. Dark was upon us and soon skeletons were rising all around from the earth. I banished what I could before fleeing on Nokia after Mouse.
Riding hard and far our group stopped at a knoll where I immediately consecrated the ground and we set up camp again. The little mage and I got the tents up while Mouse went off in search of fire wood. The baby dragon seemed content to follow her. I do hope it doesn’t kill her when she isn’t looking. Death by dragon can’t be fun for anybody.
Mouse was taking too long so mage-boy and I went into the bushes after her. Very nearby we found her huddled up with the dragon looking over her shoulder at something. She had in her hands a box. She opened it and the world went dark.
I found myself speaking to my god, Tempus. He spoke to me of ill tidings in the universe both for himself and well..it seemed he meant me…or maybe just his clerics. He told me 3 things that must done and or watched for. I must find the woman named Midnight. If I see a man with a blue box I need to run away as far and fast as I can. Be nice to the intelligent horse. Soon after that I woke. My body ached as if I’d been in battle, my head was throbbing, and my stomach was growling with such a ferocity that I swore I’d happily kill the mage and eat him if I didn’t get some food soon. It was a good thing I smelled food cooking. Of course…it wasn’t so welcome a sight that I’d be okay with a stranger sitting at our camp cooking over a fire.
Setting down next to him I tried to clarify the situation. The others crawled up to the fire as well looking just as bad as I felt. He informed us that we had all been out of it for at least 2 days. He ‘kindly’ watched over us for that time.
The man felt more than a little powerful so I looked into him and found his to be well over 100. Aging quite well for one who looked to be merely human. He told us of his home where he lived with his wife and daughter. He also seemed to be aware of my vision…and as it turns out Mouse, mageboy, and the little dragon all had similar dreams… though none seemed particularly forthcoming with details… Mageboy at least seems to be looking for Midnight as well. Not sure I’ll tell him just yet of my connection.
So the man left and the two plus the dragon inform me they are looking for a book. Someone was robbed and they seek to return the belonging. Fair enough I suppose. I decided to go along with them as the fates seem to be twisting us together.
We traveled for a bit before coming to a house. The house of the man we had met earlier. Mouse seems convinced he has the book. Mage boy went up to the door to knock…with the dragon trailing at his heels. The door opened. The woman inside panicked and at once Mageboy was dropped into a pit. Very quickly this situation escalated into a clusterfuck involving our group essentially terrorizing this home. At some point I managed to pull the group back out of the house and left a reparation fee at the door as an apology. We left to get the flock out of there and made camp for the night many, many, many many, miles away.
